Located in the western portion of the Loire Valley, Angers--with a population of more than 200,000--has been described as a "bright and radiant city." Angers is at once modern and medieval, combining technological industries and an efficient public transportation system with winding cobblestone streets and the Château d'Angers, which dates back to the thirteenth century. Angers' beautiful gardens, diverse museums, and medieval tapestries (the largest collection in the world) provide ample opportunity to explore France's culture firsthand. Thirty thousand university students give Angers a youthful energy.
